Activities & Snacks

Activities:

  • After reading the book Smiley Shark, design a store (Shoreline Grocery Store) for students to go shopping for snacks for Smiley Shark.  Students can shop for goldfish crackers, shoestring licorice, sharp cheddar cheese and sherbet.  Then, have a shore style feast!
  • Explore and trace shells
  • Glue dry macaroni shells on to paper sheep!
  • Go shopping for shoes!  Have the kids take off their shoes, organize by similarities then they can shop for their shoes!
  • Make a shape collage
  • Make shadow puppets!
  • Make shakers!  Put dried beans between paper plates.  Staple plates together. For fun, decorate plates with pictures of objects that begin with the /sh/ sound.
  • Put on a show!
  • Shoot some hoops!
  • Trace the letters ‘sh’ in some shaving cream

Snacks:

  • Gummy sharks
  • Make sheep shaped cookies!
  • Shakes
  • Shape Snack Mix: Mix a variety of store bought cookies and crackers of various shapes!
  • Shark crackers
  • Shark cupcake:  Place a square cookie (such as Lorna Doone) in top of cupcake until a triangle shape sticks up from the top of the cupcake.  Frost the cupcake and cookie with blue icing.  Add candy corn for teeth and M & Ms for eyes.
  • Sherbet
  • Shrimp
